save me.

06 April 2023 – 03 May 2023 Vernissage | 06 April 2023 | 20:00 Full Moon Gallery Admission free! Full Moon Gallery invites you to the vernissage “save me.” by Dresden artist Laura Michelle Schubert on 6 April. The thematic basis of the collection shown for the first time is the alienation of humankind from its natural origins, caused by the prevailing compulsion to consume and the permanent sensory overload in our society. Man has lost the understanding of the original, natural attitude to life, which has led and continues to lead to its destruction. This behaviour now requires rapid and intensive nature and animal protection as a reaction. These thoughts are reflected in the multimedia art, which includes paintings, hoodies and photography. With the clothes, Laura Michelle Schubert chooses an unconventional form of passing on information, because by designing and wearing the hoodies in public, these thoughts reach society without fuss and greater effort. With the “save me.” – collection, the artist wants to encourage the commitment and further development of behaviour and understanding towards nature, which must be conserved for the existence of mankind.

Die Vier Elemente

Die Vier Elemente 11 March 2023 – 04 April 2023 Vernissage | 11 March 2023 | 20:00   In March, the Full Moon Gallery will present the exhibition by the artist Jana Pommer-Semper entitled THE FOUR ELEMENTS, which will be celebrated on the occasion of the full moon on 11 March. The question of the essence of the world, that which endures forever, are ancient questions of humanity. It took the ancient Greeks only four elements to explain the world. Aristotle’s and Plato’s reflections in this regard lasted until the 18th century. If Jana Pommer-Semper is to be believed, today our knowledge is increasing through research and science, but so-called knowledge is continually distancing us from the direct connection to nature. Much points to the fact that everything is under the rule of the four elements: 4 temperaments, 4 humours, 4 seasons. Mixed in different ways, they can represent the whole world. From these, eternally and unchangeably existing, the great principle of order of our occidental thinking develops and is only devalued by modern science. With the series “The Four Elements”, the artist wants to express her appreciation of the limited treasures of our earth, to recall the mythological understanding, which was characterised by gratitude and veneration and the inner knowledge that the elements have always been associated with climate, weather and their destructive power. It is the contrast of two different worlds that interests Jana Pommer-Semper, the relationship between natural material and synthetic colours, as well as the depiction of multi-layered worked-through surfaces versus clarity.

METAMORPHOSIS DES GEISTES

05 February 2023  / 20:00   “Children playing with a bomb.” This is how the Swedish philosopher Nick Bostrom described us, today’s humanity, not only developing artificial intelligence (AI) but indulging in it almost without restraint, unaware of the consequences. The image is by no means new; it runs through cultural history from the Golem of early medieval Jewish mysticism to Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein to the HAL 9000 on-board computer running amok in Stanley Kubrick’s film “2001: A Space Odyssey”. While some put this mask of horror on digitalisation, art in virtual space is really flourishing. Reflecting on the infinite possibilities that arise thanks to the computer was the central theme of the Digital Art Residencies initiated by the Jugend und Kulturprojekt e.V..   Over a period of three months, local and international artists used digital collaboration software to create works on the theme METAMORPHOSIS OF THE MIND. The focus was on the creative adaptation of digital technologies. The resulting works show art as something that is created between several individuals and digital networks through complex interactions: a fusion.   Participating artists: Mia-Ann Böhm (Germany), Augusto Gerardi Rousset (Venezuela), Jakyeong Jeong (South Korea/Germany) Belal Kalash (Israel), Oleksandra Kulikovska (Ukraine), Anna Mukhanova (Ukraine), Laura Michelle Schubert (Germany), Michael Siegmund (Germany)

ART@EXIL – Ausstellung des Kandinsky Art Center/ Odessa

Support your Ukrainian Neighbours 09 October 2022 – 31 October 2022Vernissage |09 October 2022 | 20:00 While Russian missiles militarily attack Ukrainian cities, killing thousands of civilians and destroying homes, art and culture also fall victim to the war. Most museums and galleries in Ukraine were closed after the Russian invasion, including the Kandinsky Art Center in Odessa (www.kandinskiy-art.com), whose art collection chronologically dates back to the beginning of the twentieth century and continues to this day. The renowned gallery owner and director of the Kandinsky Art Center in Odessa, Dr. Anna Glazova, has been bringing exhibits from the gallery to Dresden piece by piece since June of this year in order to protect them from Russian access in Odessa. For her, the evacuation of the cultural values and the rescue of the entire art collection are of particular importance. As part of the SUPPORT YOUR UKRAINIAN NEIGHBOURS project, the JKPeV will present a selection of artworks from the Kandinsky Art Center at the Full Moon Gallery from 9 to 31 October for the ART@EXILE exhibition, together with artworks by Ukrainian refugee artists living in Dresden. The vernissage will take place on 9 October at 20:00 in the Full Moon Gallery. Afterwards, the JKPeV will safely store the artworks of the Kandinsky Art Center in Dresden for the future.
