While Russian missiles militarily attack Ukrainian cities, killing thousands of civilians and destroying homes, art and culture also fall victim to the war. Most museums and galleries in Ukraine were closed after the Russian invasion, including the Kandinsky Art Center in Odessa (www.kandinskiy-art.com), whose art collection chronologically dates back to the beginning of the twentieth century and continues to this day. The renowned gallery owner and director of the Kandinsky Art Center in Odessa, Dr. Anna Glazova, has been bringing exhibits from the gallery to Dresden piece by piece since June of this year in order to protect them from Russian access in Odessa. For her, the evacuation of the cultural values and the rescue of the entire art collection are of particular importance.
As part of the SUPPORT YOUR UKRAINIAN NEIGHBOURS project, the JKPeV will present a selection of artworks from the Kandinsky Art Center at the Full Moon Gallery from 9 to 31 October for the ART@EXILE exhibition, together with artworks by Ukrainian refugee artists living in Dresden. The vernissage will take place on 9 October at 20:00 in the Full Moon Gallery. Afterwards, the JKPeV will safely store the artworks of the Kandinsky Art Center in Dresden for the future.
